My Story

My name is Kim Price and I live with my husband Simon at the end of a beautiful subtropical valley near Missabotti Australia. We are blessed with two grown up children - a son and a daughter, two dogs, two cats and a variety of chickens, and I love them all wholeheartedly.

Since I was a very small child I found joy in anything creative. Crayons and mudpies form some of my strongest childhood memories, and I have carried this into adulthood swapping them out for paint and clay.

In my young adult life I was naturally drawn to anything I could create with my own hands. This included dressmaking and quilting which led me to develop a strong interest in cloth doll making where I was supplying a local quilting store with an endless supply of handmade cloth dolls to retail.

After moving interstate I began working in a local cross-stitch and embroidery shop where I explored, studied and went on to teach many styles of fine hand embroidery including cross-stitch, brazilian embroidery and stumpwork. During these years our family went on a 6 month adventure travelling Australia, and for me this marked the beginning of a long love affair with photography and scrapbooking.

I have now been papercrafting for over 15 years. My scrapbooking and papercrafted creations have been published extensively both domestically and internationally. I have served on several design and creative teams working closely with market leading manufacturers and retailers including BasicGrey, Blue Fern Studios, The Scrapbook Store in Perth, and many others. My works have been featured at trade shows and as manufacturer promotions, as well as in specialized magazines. I have taught large numbers of classes both online and in person with up to 75 students per session.

These days I am a professional artist. My preferred platform is mixed media with a preference for acrylics. My paintings are often brightly coloured, multi-layered pieces displaying tongue-in-cheek or humourous subjects. I am highly influenced by my surroundings and my love for all things Australian, so you will often find these in my work - sometimes obviously, sometimes subtly - but always in my own unique and quirky artistic style.

I am currently filling up my 2018 teaching calendar. If you are interested in hosting me to teach in your own neighbourhood please complete the contact form below so we can chat!

Thank you for dropping by and I hope you enjoy your stay.
